Bring your own domain — free

DynDNS on your own domain

home.yourdomain.com instead of a rented hostname — connected in minutes via a TSIG key, at no extra cost.

Most DynDNS providers lock you into their domains or charge extra for custom ones. dremaxx doesn’t: connect any domain whose DNS zone accepts TSIG-signed RFC 2136 updates — your own name server or a dremaxx DNS Hosting zone — and create as many DynDNS entries under it as your plan allows.

Why bring your own domain

Your name, our infrastructure — free

100% free

Connecting your own domain costs nothing — it is included in every DynDNS plan, even the free one.

Any hostname

Create entries at any depth under your domain — or update the apex domain itself.

TSIG-secured

Updates are cryptographically signed RFC 2136 transactions — no open dynamic updates, no zone transfer needed.

Wildcard included

Optionally publish *.your-hostname with every update — perfect for reverse proxies and per-service subdomains.

What you need

Connecting your own domain takes one TSIG key and two minutes in the console:

  • A domain whose authoritative DNS server accepts RFC 2136 dynamic updates with TSIG — e.g. your own BIND, PowerDNS or Knot server.
  • No own name server? Host the zone with dremaxx DNS Hosting — TSIG keys are built in there.
  • A free dremaxx account with the (free) DynDNS service activated.

Security & hosting notes

Your TSIG secret is stored encrypted and is only used to sign the RFC 2136 updates for your zone. Updates are scoped to exactly the records of your DynDNS entries — dremaxx never rewrites anything else in your zone.
Your zone stays where it is: dremaxx only sends signed record updates to your name server. If you prefer a fully managed setup, host the zone with dremaxx DNS Hosting and use its built-in TSIG keys.
